Kiwi Jr.
Kiwi Jr. will take the stage at Rotown on Wednesday, November 11. Despite the name suggesting a New Zealand connection, the band actually hails from Ontario, Canada. Fittingly though, their sound strongly echoes the jangly indie pop of New Zealand acts like The Clean and The Chills, only without the folky, acoustic edge. Instead, they lean more into indie and garage influences in the vein of Pavement and The Modern Lovers. After releasing earlier albums on the highly regarded Sub Pop label, Kiwi Jr. now arrive at Rotown in support of their upcoming fourth record.

Extra info: While their recordings have a dry, laid-back feel, Kiwi Jr. bring a noticeably different energy live. Songs are played faster, louder, and with a rougher, almost punk-like edge, trading slacker cool for something far more urgent and danceable.
